Kiefer Sutherland aka Jack Bauer has admitted to never watching an episode of 24 and will not be tuning into the new series.
Speaking on ITV's the Jonathan Ross Show, Sutherland said he had not watched himself on screen since the 1986 film Stand By Me because he did not like the way he came across onscreen.
The 47-year-old actor explained: "I was standing there, we watched the movie and everything I thought I wanted to do, I hadn't done at all. All I saw was myself up there and I was mortified and my girlfriend was saying, 'I thought it was really great.'
"I said, 'Don't patronise me. I need to get another job. If I don't get another job and this comes out I'm dead and my career is over."'
47-year-old Sutherland, who is currently filming the new series of 24 in London, said counter-terrorism agent Jack Bauer may be "a little slower" than in his previous outings as they years catch up on him.
A teaser trailer has been released to preview the comeback of Emmy award-winning drama 24.
The new series - 24: Live Another Day - which will be back on US screens in May, shows Kiefer Sutherland's character Jack Bauer attempting to thwart a terror attack in London.
