Luke Shaw is 'awake and alert' say the Football Association after a worrying injury during England's Nations League defeat to Spain at Wembley.
The Manchester United defender was taken off on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask following an accidental collision with Spain's Dani Carvajal early in the second-half.
"Luke is awake and alert, having been assessed by our doctor and given an X-ray," read a tweet from England's official account.
"He'll stay with us overnight for further observation, with another update to come in the morning."
Shaw, making his first England start since September 2015, received treatment on the pitch for almost seven minutes, with plenty of medical officers checking on his condition after he hit his head.
But Press Association Sport understands the 23-year-old is conscious and will undergo further tests at Wembley.
Shaw suffered a double leg break playing for United in 2015 and was sidelined for 11 months and has been an ever-present for the Red Devils so far this season.

Luke Shaw suffered ligament damage in his foot during Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Swansea on Sunday and will see a specialist about the injury, according to several reports.
The 21-year-old, who has made just 11 Premier League appearances this season, hobbled off after nine minutes at Old Trafford and is now a serious doubt to feature in any of United's remaining domestic or Europa League games.
After the match manager Jose Mourinho, who has publicly criticised Shaw on several occasions this season, said: "I think Luke Shaw's must be a big injury, because to leave the pitch after nine minutes, I am expecting a very big injury."
United also lost Eric Bailly to a suspected ankle injury against Swansea, while fellow defenders Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are already sidelined.
