Olympic torch relay gets off to damp start

The umbrellas have been out in force as the Olympic torch headed off on Day 49 of its tour around the UK.

It set off from Christchurch Mansion in Suffolk and will end the day in Chelmsford in Essex.

Crowds turn out to watch torch pass despite the weather

Crowds of people have braved the wet weather to catch the Olympic torch as it continues its tour of the UK.

Torch ends the night in Leicester despite security breach

The Olympic Flame has arrived safely in Leicester despite an earlier scare, when two boys managed to get their hands on it in Coventry.

Police are warning people against entering the "security bubble" around the torch, for their safety and also for that of the torchbearers.

Animals gear up for Olympic starring role

Animals at Knowsley Safari Park near Liverpool have been preparing themselves for the arrival of the Olympic flame later this week.

Biffo the Sealion has been practising with a model of the torch to ensure there are no slip-ups when it arrives at the attraction on Friday.
