The recording of an aria from Puccini's La Boheme was kept in his personal archive for 50 years before being discovered by his widow Nicoletta Mantovani.
She praised the record company behind the album, Decca Records, for “keeping Luciano’s memory alive in this way" and called the upcoming anniversary of his debut on British television "momentous”.
The album will be released in October.
