Up to 900 pigs have been killed after a fire tore through a building in Dorset.
Firefighters tackled the blaze for three hours yesterday at Seaborough Manor near Beaminster.
Investigators are now looking into the cause of the blaze, which swept through the roof of the 330ft-long piggery.
Nearly 3,000 pigs – many of them diseased – have been found in a major water supply to Shanghai in China.
The news, confirmed by official media, is said to have triggered a public outcry as concerns mount over food safety and environmental pollution.
Some of the pigs were infected with porcine circovirus (PCV) virus, the Shanghai Agriculture Committee admitted, but insisted that the disease would not infect humans.
