A woman was left "shaken" after she discovered a dead frog in a salad from a Pret A Manger store in New York.
Kathryn Lurie, Digital Features Editor at the Wall Street Journal, posted a picture of the small frog on Instagram after her colleague discovered it in a salad.
Pret said in a statement: "Our lettuce is sourced from farms that do not use any pesticides on its produce, therefore organic matter does very rarely manage to pass through our production process. We are currently looking into this issue to make every effort that this does not happen again."
Pret A Manger is creating 1,000 new jobs, 500 of them in Britain, after a jump in profits.
Sales at the sandwich chain last year rose 17% from £377 million to £443 million.
The biggest growth abroad has been in the USA, two in Hong Kong and France.
