Friend pays tribute to 'dear old pal' Reg Presley

The Troggs frontman Reg Presley died at his home in Andover, Hampshire, surrounded by friends and family, close friend and music publicist Keith Altham has said.

He announced the death of his "dear old pal" on his Facebook page, adding that the 1960s rock star suffered a number of strokes recently.

He said:

He was one very real person in a sometimes very unreal world. Our thoughts are with his wife Brenda and the the family and those legion of fans who loved his music and his band. I will miss him hugely.

The Troggs lead singer Reg Presley dies aged 71

Reg Presley, lead singer of sixties rock band The Troggs, has died aged 71, his family has confirmed to the BBC.

The Troggs had a number of hit songs, including Wild Thing and Love Is All Around.

Presley retired from music a year ago after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
