Two car crashes in the North East in less than 24 hours have left one person dead, and another seriously injured in hospital.
A man died on Saturday after his Mercedes overturned on the A69 near Ovingham. He's been named as Colin Swan, 50, from Whickham in Gateshead.
Police say his Mercedes veered across the road, before mounting a bank, overturning and hitting a bridge. Fire crews, ambulances and police attended the scene. Nobody else was involved in the crash.
The crash follows another on Friday afternoon on the A167 near to Ferryhill, which involved six vehicles.
Three people had to be cut from their cars and one man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
