York City have been drawn away to Doncaster Rovers this morning in the first round of next season's League Cup.
Not a seismic event on the football scale, especially on the day Harry Redknapp lost his job at Spurs. But another important and satisfying moment for the Minstermen.
Their last match in the competition was a 2-1 defeat to Rotherham United on 12 August 2003. Nine months later York were relegated from the Football League.
A long exile followed, but they finally booked their return ticket when they beat Luton Town in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off Final last month.
As part of their reward, York are back in the newly named Capital One Cup, and today's first round draw will stir fond memories.
The club beat Manchester United 3-0 in the competition in front of a crowd of almost 30,000 at Bootham Crescent on 20 September 1995. An epic occasion and one that will live long in the memories of most fans. There are no guarantees of more nights like that, but at least it's possible again.
The Keepmoat Stadium may not be the most glamorous venue to return to League Cup combat. But the omens are good. In 1984, the Minstermen swept Donny aside 8-2 on aggregate when the first round was played over two legs.
Today's draw also threw up typically tough assignments for the region's other teams. Hartlepool United travel to Crewe Alexandra, who were promoted to League One via the play-offs last season. While Tony Mowbray's Middlesbrough face a tough trip to Bury.
The ties will be played during the week of 13 August 2012. But unusually, the Football League will consider requests to play first round games on Saturday 11 or Sunday 12 if it suits both clubs involved.
