The football fixtures for the new 2012/13 season have been announced.
It's an all-London affair for the Premier League's North East representatives when the new football season kicks off on Saturday 18 August.
Martin O'Neill's Sunderland face an opening day trip to the Emirates against Arsenal. While Newcastle United will play host to Tottenham at St James' Park. Spurs are currently without a manager after Harry Redknapp left the club last week. But they are expected to appoint a new boss in time for the start of the campaign.
The first Wear-Tyne derby will see the Magpies face the Black Cats at the Stadium of Light on Saturday 20 October.
Middlesbrough will travel to Barnsley for their opening day clash. Tony Mowbray's side made a flying start to last season and will be hoping for similar this time. Boro's early season form propelled them to the top six for most of the campaign. However, a poor run towards the end of the season saw them narrowly miss out on the play-offs.
Hartlepool United begin their season at home to Paolo Di Canio's newly promoted Swindon. Pools endured a disappointing campaign last time out, with Mick Wadsworth departing the club in December 2011. Neale Cooper was brought in as his replacement, and he'll be hoping his team can improve on last season's 13th place finish.
York City will start their first Football League campaign for eight years at home to Wycombe Wanderers. The Minstermen were relegated to the Conference in 2004, and have been in Football League wilderness ever since. But Gary Mills' team clinched promotion last month by beating Luton 2-1 at Wembley in the Blue Square Bet Premier play-off Final.
