The Olympic torch started day 31 of its relay with a trip on the Transporter bridge across the Tees. It was carried by 17 year old James Coupland who was nominated for his enthusiasm for sport and his role encouraging younger children to join in.
The flame had burned overnight in Middlesbrough where the cauldron was lit by 17 year old Chloe Meehan.
A festival in Middlesbrough rounded off an eventful day 30 of the torch relay which saw the flame carried through County Durham and Teesside. Helen Pearson rounds up the day.
