One man died in a crash on the A68 in Northumberland and hundreds of holidaymakers were stranded as wet weather continued to affect the region.
The accident happened near Kiln Pit Hill when a car driven by a man in his 20s left the road. Police warned motorists to take extra care because of the standing water on many of our roads.
