Coast-to-coast for Children's Heart Unit charity
The father of a toddler who had life-saving heart surgery at Newcastle's Freeman Hospital has completed his third coast-to-coast challenge, to raise money for the unit.
Ivan Hollingsworth and his wife Nadine started a charity to show their thanks to the Children's Heart Unit that treated their son Seb, after he was born with a heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. After three years, they have raised more than £225,000.
On Sunday, they set out from Whitehaven to Tynemouth with a group of volunteers on their most gruelling challenge so far:
- Day 1: 100 mile cycle, 1 mile swim
- Day 2: run a double marathon (53 miles)
- Day 3: run a half marathon
On Tuesday evening, they arrived on Tynemouth Longsands.
