In 1992 Nikki Allan's body was found in the basement of a derelict building three hundred yards from her home in Sunderland. She was just seven years old.
Today her grieving mother is marking a tragic milestone on the day her murdered daughter would have celebrated her 27th birthday.
A neighbour was charged with Nikki's murder. His confession was later ruled inadmissable because a judge decided the police had used oppressive methods to obtain a confession.
Twenty years on Nikki's mother Sharon Henderson is still fighting for justice.
