Hartlepool, York, and Gateshead hoping for home wins

The Premier League and Championship sides have the weekend off due to international fixtures, but a host of North East teams are still in action on Saturday.

League One

With one win, a draw, and a defeat in the opening three matches, it's been a mixed start to the season for Hartlepool United. The club sit 15th in the table, but they have played a game less after their away trip to Leyton Orient was postponed. Win that game in hand, and Pools could find themselves back in touch with the league leaders.

First though, Neale Cooper's team have an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Carlisle United are the visitors to Victoria Park this weekend - win that one, and Hartlepool could find themselves moving up the table whilst giving their fans local bragging rights.

The home side have been given an early boost ahead of the match too, as Cooper has a full squad to choose from.

League Two

York City have taken to life back in the Football League like a duck to water. Despite a shaky August, The Minstermen are sitting comfortably in the top-half of the table after back-to-back wins over Barnet and Oxford United. Gary Mills' team could make it three league victories in a row with a win over Chesterfield at Bootham Crescent tomorrow.

Patrick McLaughlin will be missing for York as he's on duty with Northern Ireland's Under-21s. But striker Ashley Chambers is available after recovering from a calf injury.
