Durham food festival underway

Durham food festival first started last year in 2011 bringing together food producers from across the region and from across the world.

This year more than 100 food retailers are taking part on Palace Green and the Market Place in the centre of the city.

The event is taking place at the same time as the last weekend of Durham book festival.

Michelin-starred chef Jean Christophe-Novelli will also be giving demonstrations at the festival.

"The North East is home to a fantastic wealth and breadth of talented producers and chefs who are passionate about their food."
