Hundreds of seabirds are washing up on the region's shoreline as they struggle to cope with the awful weather conditions.

More than 200 puffins have been found dead on beaches along the Northumberland coast. Other seabirds are also struggling to cope.

Experts say the birds are starving to death, unable to feed in raging seas and gale force winds.
