Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio says his side's thrashing at the hands of Aston Villa happened because they "relaxed too much" after victories over Newcastle United and Everton.
The Black Cats earned back-to-back wins over the Magpies and the Toffees but were beaten 6-1 by relegation threatened Villa on Monday night. Di Canio says previous results may have affected his team's performance at Villa Park.

Sometimes players relax at the first big win. So after Newcastle they became heroes. With Everton close, even more heroes and after the results that we saw before we played our game - we're talking about Wigan and Newcastle - we relaxed too much.
"We have to make sure that in the future we are going to extend the desire and ambition to win, and win, and win, and win. Otherwise we are going to play every time for the relegation battle.
"Win one game, two games... heroes and we relax. It is not our way."
