Aston Villa's out-of-favour striker Darren Bent could be returning to the North East - with Newcastle United reportedly showing an interest.
Newspaper reports have suggested the Magpies are planning a £6 million move for the former Sunderland forward, who spent most of last season as a substitute at Villa Park.
The 29-year-old was a fans favourite on Wearside before his £18 million transfer to Villa in January 2011. Despite being the club's record signing he's quickly become a bit-part player under Paul Lambert and is widely expected to move elsewhere this summer.
Bent has worked under Alan Pardew previously at Charlton Athletic so any move to St James' Park would see the striker reunited with his former manager.
