Joe Kinnear has promised to meet supporters who have voiced concerns over his recent appointment as Newcastle United's Director of Football.
The 66-year-old announced he had accepted the job nine days ago, but already his return has caused a stir among fans with many expressing anger over a radio interview Kinnear gave last week.
Around two hundred people held a meeting at Newcastle Labour Club near St James' Park last night to discuss their concerns. Kinnear had been invited to the gathering but failed to show. However, he sent his friend - Eddie McIntyre - on his behalf.
In a statement that was read out during the meeting, Kinnear said:

“I regret what I said to the supporters in the interview I did with fans on talkSPORT.
“I wish all the fans the very best at their meeting and I do hope to attend a meeting in future.”
