Weather: Looking ahead

Warnings in place for the region on Monday morning. After midday conditions should improve. Photo:

Warnings remain in place for the region from midnight for the first part of Monday morning as a deep low pressure system tracks in from the southwest, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.

Within a short space of time 20-30mm of rain could fall quite widely - and during the morning rush hour. The public are urged to delay their morning journey by a few hours if they can. The worst of the conditions are expected to ease after 10am.

As we head into Monday afternoon conditions will improve to scattered blustery showers, sunny spells with winds (although remaining strong and gusty from the west) gradually easing.

Here's the forecast.....
