The Deputy Prime Minister has told reporters it was "great" that the North of England was hosting the start of the Tour de France - not the South.

Nick Clegg, who is MP for Sheffield Hallam, was speaking during a visit to the Tour de France media centre. The building, in Leeds, will host 2,000 reporters from all over the world over the next four days.

Riders will set out from Harrogate on Saturday, 5th July, for the Grand Départ.
