Carly Musleh won the Best Beauty Blogger category. She is based in South Shields and started her blog three years ago.

I feel overwhelmed and very appreciative to win this award and especially proud that it was held in the North East to showcase our local talent.

Other winners included Rachel Kershaw for Best Travel Blog and Sandra Tang for Best Style Blog.

I'm originally from Sheffield but now an adopted Geordie. I was really, really surprised when they called my name. I honestly did not expect to win!

But, the lady of the hour and overall winner was mum of three from Cramlington, Samantha Rickelton.

The 30-year-old only started blogging 18 months ago, but has already made an impact on the North East blogging scene by creating 'top ten tips' for bloggers who are starting out, and hosting google plus chats with new bloggers who need friendly advice.

I couldn't believe it, especially because I didn't win the category I was originally in - travel! I was just happy for everyone else so when they called my name, it was such a huge shock.
