Three flood alerts have been issued by the Environment Agency for the early hours of Wednesday 10 February.
They are warning people to be prepared for flooding in the following areas:
- The North Sea coast from Staithes to Whitby including Sandsend and tidal River Esk.
- The North Sea from Berwick to St Mary's Lighthouse.
- The North Sea coastline including Hartlepool, Seaton Carew, Redcar, Saltburn by the sea and Skinningrove.
The Environment Agency are urging people to:
Be prepared to protect yourself, family, pets and property.
Be careful along beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads.

Tune into weather, news and travel bulletins on local television and radio.
Avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
