Durham County Cricket Club has refuted claims the future of the club is under threat from financial difficulties.

A report featured in The Times has suggested the club is in danger of going into administration unless it receives a seven-figure cash injection from the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Although Durham have admitted to being in discussions with the ECB regarding funding, the club has insisted there is 'no imminent threat' to its future.

A club statement said:

Durham County Cricket Club confirms that it is in talks with the ECB about the funding of county cricket. Durham and others have been in discussion with ECB for some time on this subject and continue to have a positive dialogue.

The club believes there is no imminent threat to the future of the club and as such remains confident in its long term plans to move towards a sustainable funding model.
