Sunderland's Olympic and Paralympic stars honoured

The Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Alan Emerson, has honoured the city's Olympic and Paralympic stars.

He presented specially commissioned medals on behalf of the city at a special civic reception held in their honour last night (Monday 12th December)

Long distance runner Alyson Dixon, Yachtsman John Robertson, swimmers Josef Craig and Matt Wylie, boxers Josh Kelly and Pat McCormack joined trampoline gymnast Kat Driscoll (from Rio 2016) at the event.

"I am sure that I speak for many city residents when I say that you all have made Sunderland and indeed the North East very proud.

I would like to wish you continued success in your future career and I am sure there will be more honours to follow."
