Over 50 fire officers and eight fire engines are dealing with flooding across Scarborough.
The North Yorkshire Fire control room has received over 60 reports of flooding to properties, as water levels continued to rise throughout this morning after heavy downpours.
Fire crews have been assisting with rescuing people from cars trapped in floodwater and at properties with vulnerable residents.
They are now working their way around areas of Scarborough, giving assistance to residents affected by flooding.
Water flowed down Eastborough and West Sandgate in Scarborough, with North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service warning residents of rising water levels elsewhere in the town.
Across Scarborough, sport pitches and roads have been forced to close because of the flash flooding.
