Much warmer than average temperatures over the weekend, by day and night.

Extremely windy conditions expected to affect Northern Ireland, western and then northern Britain Monday & Tuesday.

For the Tyne Tees region.......

SATURDAY:

Morning rain should weaken into the afternoon, allowing drier, brighter spells to develop - especially in the east and feeling warm here. Breezy at times. Highs to 20°C.

OVERNIGHT:

Cloud and breezy conditions persisting across western hills with the odd spot of drizzle. Elsewhere, mainly dry with variable cloud. Mild lows 12°C.

SUNDAY:

Rather cloudy to start, and breezy - especially across hills in the west and north (with patchy rain developing again later). Elsewhere mostly dry with some warm bright spells. Highs 20°C.

OUTLOOK:

Very warm on Monday but rather cloudy with some rain or showers and winds strengthening through the day.

Very windy on Tuesday, with warnings in place, with rain or showers but becoming drier, brighter and less windy later.

Quieter midweek: mainly dry with lighter winds and temperatures back down to average.
