A specialist team has brought down two protestors occupying a rig at a controversial fracking site at Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire. The man and woman had scaled the 60 foot high work-over rig in the early hours of Saturday morning carrying water and supplies to remain in place as long as possible.
At 10.25 this morning, the Specialist Group International team - employed by site owner Third Energy, safely removed the two. It followed the fracking company's concerns for their safety and welfare.
Police were on hand during the operation. Another man came down yesterday afternoon. They have all been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage.
The site is known as the hydraulic fracturing site where fracking could soon begin. It follows a long running campaign by some protestors to stop any potential fracking there.
