Drivers have been warned of a series of major roadworks which are set to take place across the North East and North Yorkshire.
Highways England - the Government body responsible for major roads - has issued the notice of planned work taking place in the region this month.
These are as follows:
A1 junction 56 Barton to junction 51 Leeming Bar, North Yorkshire There will be narrow lanes and a 50mph speed restriction 24 hours a day from junction 52 (Catterick) to junction 56 (Barton) to upgrade the road to motorway standards. There will be phases of overnight closures junction 56 to Scotch Corner southbound and Scotch Corner to junction 56 northbound from Monday, December 4 to Sunday, December 10 from 8pm until 6am. Signed diversions will be in place. This project is due to be completed by winter 2017/2018.
A19 Silverlink, North Tyneside There will be overnight northbound carriageway closures between Silverlink junction and Holystone junction from Monday, December 4 to Thursday, December 7 and lane closures north and southbound between Howden/Wallsend junction and Holystone junction from Monday, December 4 to Saturday, December 9 from 8pm until 6am. There will be partial ring closures on the Silverlink roundabout. There will also be a 24 hour 30mph speed restriction with narrow lanes. This project is due for to be completed in March 2019.
A1 Bridge Mill to Wooler, Northumberland There will be phases of overnight full carriageway closures northbound with daytime speed restriction for carriageway repair works. Clearly signed diversions will be in place. This project is set to finish on February 23 2018.
A1 Highfields Roundabout to the Scottish Border, Northumberland We will be carrying out drainage work on the A1 north of Berwick upon Tweed. The work will be carried out between 7am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. There will be a 50mph speed limit in place with only one lane open between the Highfields roundabout and the Scottish border laybys. The inside lanes in both directions will be closed from Monday, December 4 until Friday, December 9. The overtaking lanes in both directions will be closed from Monday, December 11 until Friday, December 15. These restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day. The project is due to be completed by Friday, December 15.
A66 Stockton Route, Teesside There will be phases of overnight closures of the westbound exit slip road and lane closures westbound on Monday, December 4 and Tuesday, December 5 from 8pm until 6am. There will also be overnight full closure of the eastbound entry slip road on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 December from 8pm until 6am for carriageway repair works. This project is due for completion 30 January 2018.
