Heartbroken father backs 'Don't Drink and Drown' campaign

In the last five years, 30 people have drowned across Tyne and Wear - more than a third of them were found to have alcohol or drugs in their system.

Ross Irwin died just before Christmas 12 months ago. He'd been on a night out in a pub close to the River Wear.

His father Dave, is backing a campaign urging party goers to avoid getting too close to water.

Dave Irwin is a firefighter, his colleagues pulled Ross' body from the river.
