Armed robbers steal couple's Christmas presents

Knife-wielding robbers broke into a couple's home, threatened the householders and then made off with their Christmas presents.

This crime happened in High Street, Eldon Lane, County Durham, on Sunday.

At 5.30pm three masked robbers broke into the property, armed with a machete.

They attacked one of the householders and then threatened them with "extreme violence".

Along with Christmas presents, the trio also made off with cigarettes, jewellery and cash.

Armed robbers have threatened a couple in their own home.

Three masked robbers entered a property in High Street, Eldon Lane at around 5.30pm last night (December 10) armed with a machete before making off with cash, jewellery, cigarettes and Christmas presents.

Detective Sergeant Gareth Hodgson from Darlington CID, said: “The robbers assaulted one of the homeowners and made threats of extreme violence. They conducted an untidy search of the house before making off with a significant amount of property.

"Thankfully the victims were not seriously injured during this ordeal however they were left terrified and shocked.”
