Middlesbrough's gold medal-winning swimmer Aimee Willmott was overcome with emotion as she was given a surprise welcome home reception at her local swimming club.
Willmott, 25, was taken to Neptune Leisure Centre. She was told she was going there for media training before walking into the centre to find friends, family and supporters.
She was given hugs and flowers from some of the young aspiring swimmers who had been there to congratulate her.
Visibly emotional, she said it was great to be home and see people she hadn't saw for some time.
Willmott beat the defending champion Hannah Miley to win the women's 400m individual medley.
