Durham police have named a man who's body was discovered on a playing field in Darlington.

42 year old Simon Harvey was found on land near Salter's Lane yesterday. He had been staying at a nearby hotel but lived in Darlington.

Police are not treating his death as suspicious. A picture has not been released.

Post Mortem to be carried out

A Home Office pathologist is due to carry out a post mortem examination on the body of a man after it was discovered on playing fields. Police aren't expected to name him until tomorrow.

They are treating his death as unexplained and say at this stage, they do not believe anyone else is involved. Durham Police want to hear from anyone who was in the Salter's Lane area and may have seen him.

Police investigating the death of a man in Darlington believe he was in his forties and was staying in a nearby hotel. His body was found on a playing field on Salter's Lane by a passer by. Officers are treating his death as unexplained.

They say he has connections with the Darlington and Hampshire areas and was staying at the Harrowgate Hill Lodge in the town, where he paid his bill yesterday but failed to return as expected last night. They are asking for help to identify him. The investigation continues.
