Seven people have been arrested after police seized three firearms in a preplanned operation in Northumberland.
Armed officers stopped a Vauxhall Vectra in the North Seaton area of Ashington at 1:35pm on Saturday 24 March. They found what is believed to be a rifle and handgun in the boot of the car.
The two weapons were seized and a 36-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were arrested at the scene.
Police carried out enquiries in the North Seaton and Newbiggin areas and an air weapon and a quantity of firearms ammunition were seized from properties.
Two men, aged 51 and 60, two women, aged 56 and 32, and a juvenile were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and are in police custody.
