Police have named a man who died in a crash on the A69 in Northumberland yesterday (Saturday). 50 year old Colin Swan from Whickham was travelling west when his car overturned on the dual carriageway near Ovington.
The man who was killed in a crash on the A69 came off the road just yards before the crash barrier began.
He died after his car was flipped by a bank and crashed against a bridge.
Had he stayed on the road for just a few more yards, the barrier would have prevented him from hitting the bank.
A driver has been killed after being involved in a crash near Ovingham on the A69.
Police, fire and ambulance crews rushed to the scene at just after 7am this morning.
They have closed part of the westbound side, which is expected to reopen at 2pm.
No other vehicles were involved.
The A69 westbound is closed near Heddon-on-the-Wall due to an overturned vehicle. The road is expected to reopen from 2:00 pm.
