Stephen Hughes, Labour MEP for the North East, joined 300 bikers at a rolling roadblock on the A1 in County Durham. He supports their protest against proposed new EU rules that the bikers say would make their hobby more expensive.
More than 100 bikers gather on the A1(M) at Durham for a rolling protest against the EU.
They're angry at plans to impose new regulations governing modifications to their bikes.
Delays are expected on the A1(M) this afternoon as bikers stage a mass demonstration against EU legislation on motorcycles.
The protest involves members of Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), and is one of 12 demos taking place across the UK.
Riders are planning to meet at Carville, near Durham at 1pm, and stage a mass 40mph ride north along the A1 until Washington Services.
