Friendship Games gets underway
More than a hundred youths from across Europe have joined teenagers from North Tyneside for the Friendship Games.
Youths from Germany, Poland, France and Slovenia are taking part in the Olympic-style event at North Shields.
The day, organised by North Tyneside Council, is aimed at improving links between twin cities across Europe.
Students to take part in Friendship Games
More than one hundred young people from across Europe will be joining students from North Tyneside in the Friendship Games.
Youths from Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and France will team-up with pupils from four schools in a weekend of sporting activities at The Parks Sports Centre, in North Shields.
Around 20 members from Burnside Enterprise College, Churchill Community College, Longbenton Community College, and Whitley Bay High School are taking part.
The games are organised by the North Tyneside Council, with the aim of bringing together young people from towns across Europe.
The competitors, all aged 16 to 19, will enter a series of Olympic-style events themed around famous North East landmarks.
