The people behind the iconic 'Angel of the North', and the Baltic art gallery on the Quayside are being made honorary Freemen of the Gateshead.
The Angel's sculptor Antony Gormley is being given the honour alongside the founders of the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Sune Nordgren and Alan Smith, at a ceremony this lunch time.

Sculptor Antony Gormley OBE, and Sune Nordgren and Alan Smith were nominated for their services to arts. The trio will receive their awards at a special ceremony at the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art this afternoon.
