Castle no fortress against the weather
Newcastle's Norman castle keep has become a victim of the summer deluges. It's thought rainwater found its way into the building during the two huge storms of June and August.
The water brought down a Georgian plaster ceiling in the keep's lower hall.
Specialist workers have been removing the remains of the ceiling and cleaning up the wooden joists which have now been exposed.
