A lorry driver who died in a crash between four vehicles on the A1 in North Yorkshire was a man aged 38 from Stockton-on-Tees. He has not been named but his next of kin have been informed.

Another driver, aged 58 and from North Lincolnshire, is in a critical but stable condition in hospital. No one else was injured.

A man has died after a four vehicle crash on the A1 in North Yorkshire.

Emergency services were called to the northbound carriageway near the Kirby Fleetham junction early this morning.

Three lorries were involved, and a combine harvester.
