Some disabled children have been left out of PE and excluded from sports events, because there are teachers who think it is too much trouble to include them.

A number of coaches and pupils said there were still shocking examples of mainstream schools in the North East failing children, because they have a disability.

At 22, Dan Blake is a national powerchair football player. However, he said his experience in a mainstream school almost put him off sport altogether.
