A task force aimed at helping the 530 staff who are losing their jobs at Direct Line in Stockton met today.
The call centre staff will be left out of work when their contracts end next summer.
Representatives from Tees Valley Unlimited, Job Centre Plus, Stockton Riverside College, the National Careers Service, North East Chamber of Commerce and the Skills Funding Agency met with Stockton Council to develop a package of support.
Stockton Riverside College is already meeting with Direct Line staff on a regular basis and a number of employees have signed up to a variety of courses. The task force is also considering Contacting other companies in the Tees Valley area to identify job opportunities and holding jobs fairs.
