A rejected mongoose has survived being found 'cold and weak' at birth, and has made a new life with a group of meerkats.

Abandoned by his mother, Mario the mongoose was found cold and weak by manager Craig Wesson at Kirkleatham Owl Centre at just a few hours old.
Now, he's being very well-looked after not just by Craig, but also the other members of the animal community who he's made friends with.

Mongooses "get stressed very easily"
Craig Wesson, the manager at Kirkleatham Owl Centre, has been looking after Mario the mongoose since he found him abandoned by his mother at just a few weeks old.

Much-loved Mario being well looked after
A baby mongoose that was abandoned by its mother has been getting its strength up thanks to staff at a local owl sanctuary.
Mario was found cold and weak by Kirkleatham Owl Centre manager Craig Wesson at just a few hours old.
But a couple of weeks later, he is already at home with the other animals at the Redcar animal park.

'Rejected' mongoose finds loving family
Mario may have been abandoned by his mother at just a few weeks old, but he is now being well-looked after by his new family.
The mongoose has found comfort with a bunch of friendly meerkats, but spends most nights being looked after by Centre Manager Craig Wesson at the Kirkleatham Owl Centre near Redcar.

Kirkleatham Owl Centre says that Mario and his meerkat friends like to spend much of the day foraging for food, creepy crawlies, small mammals and birds eggs.
