Man charged with murder after Washington stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with murder, after a fatal stabbing in Washington at the weekend.

20 year old Andrew Lucas was found with stab wounds near his home in Warkworth Close, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

45-year-old Mark Spalding, from Washington, has appeared before Sunderland Magistrates. He was remanded in custody, and will appear before Newcastle Crown Court on November the 7th.
