The season of goodwill has already begun in North Yorkshire for two unlikely suspects reminiscent of a particularly festive story.
Mary and Joseph were abandoned on an industrial estate and were rescued by a teenager and her mother when rescue centres said they had no room to house the two ponies.
14-year-old Cressida Killick adopted the female Shetland pony and the black and white cob after finding that they had been abandoned without food or water by the driver of a transit van.
The two new arrivals are being well looked after in their new home by Cressida and her friends and family.
