A living roof has been laid on a new college building in the centre of Newcastle.
'Living roof' growing on city centre college
A sustainable living roof, made up of 12 species of plant, is growing in the centre of Newcastle.
Eco Students at Newcastle Sixth Form College say they are leading the way on sustainable development.
The roof is designed to reduce carbon dioxide around the campus, reduce the likelihood of flooding and entice wildlife to the centre of the city.
It has been laid on a new state-of-the-art building, which will be finished in the spring and open to students from July.
