Carbon Monoxide: Gas Safe Register's top tips

In the last year 50 people have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and a further 4000 people have been affected by the poisonous gas.

Here are the top tips from the Gas Safety Register on how to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning:

  • Only use a Gas Safe registered engineer to fix, fit or maintain your gas appliances.
  • Recognise the six symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.
  • Do not assume that your gas appliances are safe - get these checked and serviced regularly.
  • Buy an audible carbon monoxide alarm.
