Concerns over Free School

Plans to start a new Free School in the west end of Newcastle have met with opposition from the city council.

"This is going to provide choice for people"

The Council says that it has 'some concerns' over plans for a new Free School in the west of Newcastle.

It has argued that there is already a variety of schools in that part of the city, but has said that it would work with them if it's fully approved.

However, the new headteacher says the new school would provide greater choice.
