Teesside workers win one million pounds
A syndicate of 19 shift-workers in Teesside are celebrating after sharing a one million pound lottery win.
The group from Sabic UK Petrochemicals at Wilton, will each take away £52,631.59 after they won one of 25 EuroMillions Millionaire Raffle prizes on New Year's Day.
Many workers were on the night shift when Andy Oates, one of the syndicate leaders, checked their lucky dip tickets and found they had won.
He waited until fellow syndicate leader David Byers had finished his shift the next day before ringing him to tell him the news, and warning him to sit down.
Mr Oates then gathered the remaining syndicate members at work that night and broke the news, which was met with a stunned reaction by the plant technicians at first.
